A bit of history you'll discover on your day trip to Cadiz an Jerez from Seville

Cádiz is considered the oldest living city in the West. With over 3000 years of history, it was coveted by Phoenicians, Tartessians, Iberians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Christians.

The city played a significant role in various historical events such as the Punic Wars, the Roman entry into the Iberian Peninsula, the discovery of America, the drafting of the first Spanish constitution “La Pepa,” as well as later influence in the independent former Spanish colonies.

Cádiz has many highlights, including its beaches admired throughout Andalusia. The city and Havana are said to share a certain resemblance in their malecón, a fact confirmed by Cubans. Along this promenade, you can see the sun illuminating the golden dome of the 18th-century Cathedral.

Among its beaches, the Playa de la Caleta is famous among the locals, where fishermen’s boats sleep between two castles, the Santa Catalina Castle (16th century), and the San Sebastián Castle (18th century). These ancient fortresses were tasked with defending the city, and each evening, the sun sets, creating one of the most beautiful sunsets ever seen.

Another great idea is to wander through the Barrio de la Viña or Barrio del Pópulo and visit the Gran Teatro Falla in memory of Manuel de Falla, a Spanish composer and native of Cádiz.

Jerez de la Frontera, the capital of the province of Cádiz, is famous for its wines and horses. Jerez boasts the world’s most important reserve of Cartujana lineage Spanish horses, renowned for their beauty, strength, nobility, power, and elegance.

It is also a land of vineyards, with numerous wineries in the area due to the uniqueness of its climate and soil, making it impossible to reproduce Sherry wine anywhere else in the world.
